Dead Pleasures Design would like to officially welcome the real, live Melvin the Bunny to our family. We now have an official mascot for our company, even if the live Melvin is a girl instead of a boy.. She is absolutely adorable, and petting her is like snuggling into a velvet blanket. Also, she really digs timothy hay. I mean really digs it, as in we put her in her new cage with all sorts of awesome stuff-- new bowl, hidey-house, hay manger, loofah chew toy, mineral salt lick, water bottle-- and she totally ignored it all to dig in and stuff her face with timothy hay. Greedy little bunny-bunny! X3 She's really cute, and she's in my computer room with me. I keep looking over at her and squeeing my brains out, it's absolutely ridiculous!
But it isn't all fun and snuggles! Owning a pet is also a responsibility. With bunnies, you can't give them raw veggies until they are about 6 months old (poor Melvin has to wait another 4 months to chow down on delicious carrots and lettuce). They need food, and water, and privacy, just like people. And since they can't clean their own cages, it's up to us to do it for them, no matter how much they pee and poo in there. I'm totally excited for all of it! Especially for being able to snuggle on her again like I did when I visited her at the pet store. But, that's gonna be another week, since she needs time to adjust to her new home here with us. Bunnies are naturally a little skittish, so they need about a week of hands-off time to get used to a new place.
